What happens inside one AI-made episode: units, redos, versions and the cut

Assembly note: unit length and episode length

Unit length decides how many generations an episode needs. At 15 seconds a unit, a two-minute episode is eight; at 5 seconds it is twenty-four. From 7 source pages, read 2026-09-25; no maker pays to be listed.

Where vendors state lengths, units run from about 3 to 30 seconds, and assembled videos from a minute to half an hour or more.

More units mean more joins to get right, but also finer control over each part.

2How one pipeline handles it

The episode pipeline SceneMixer documents has its own answer to “Unit length and episode length”; two lines from its pages:

Sixty to a hundred and twenty seconds is the working range for short drama, and that is what the outline paces for. A 90-second episode is typically seven segments of about fourteen seconds stacked together.
